I.     GENERAL EXPLANATIONS

The benchmark charts present information about the performance of a school or school corporation compared to the state’s average. The school is represented by blue bars on the bar graph and the school corporation is represented by green bars on the bar graph. The state average is represented by bellow bars. School and school corporation performance is shown overtime with each set of bars depicting the school or school corporation’s performance compared to the state’s average in each school year shown.

        Enrollment

                The total number of students enrolled in schools located within the school corporation

 

III.   EXPLANATIONS OF SCHOOL LEVEL DATA

        Attendance Rate

                The percent of regular school days that, on average, student are in attendance at the school

 

        ISTEP+ Results

The ISTEP+ is Indiana’s standardized student assessment that measures students’ achievement on the specific curriculum to be taught in Indiana schools at each grade level, as determined by Indiana State Academic Standards. ISTEP+ results reflect what a student “knows” versus what a student “should know.”

 

The “Average Percent Passing ISTEP+” shows the percent of students passing both the Mathematics and English/Language Arts portions of the ISTEP+. Results are also presented separately for the Mathematics and English/Language Arts potions of the ISTEP+ and by grade.

 

ACT Composite Score

The average score received by students in the school who took the ACT (American College Testing Assessment) The highest possible score on the ACT is 36.

 

ACT, Percent of 12th Graders Taking

The percent of 12th graders enrolled in the school who took the ACT (American College Testing Assessment)

 

Advanced Placement, Percent Taking

The percent of students enrolled in the school who took an Advanced Placement test

Advanced Placement tests are taken by students in grades 11 and 12. Students who demonstrate acceptable levels of achievement (a score of 3 or above) on the tests are eligible to receive postsecondary credit for the subject in which the test was taken.

 

Advanced Placement, Percent of Exams 3 or Above

The percent of exams taken by students enrolled in the school that received a score of 3 or above.

Graduates Pursuing College Education, Percent

The percent of graduates from the high school who has indicated to the high school that he/she will pursue a college education

 

        Graduation Rate 4 Year or Less

The graduation rate represents the percent of students in a school who graduate from high school within four years. Students who take more than 4 years to graduate are not included in the graduation rate.

 

SAT Composite Score College-Bound Seniors (Reading+Math)

The average total score received on the Reading and Math portions of the by 12th grade students in the school who took the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)

 

SAT Critical Reading

The average score received by students in the school on the Critical Reading portion of the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)

 

SAT Mathematics

The average score received by students in the school on the mathematics portion of the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)

 

SAT Writing

The average score received by students in the school on the Writing portion of the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)
